If you're new to using a Netspend Card Account, one of the first things you'll want to do is transfer money to your prepaid debit card so you can start using it. The good news is that transferring money to your Netspend Prepaid Card can be simple and convenient.

How to move money into Netspend

There are several ways to move money into your Netspend Card Account, including direct deposits, bank transfers,[1] online transfers,[2] and reload locations.[3] Some are faster than others, but there's bound to be a method that works well for you.

Direct deposits

Adding money via direct deposit is a convenient way to add a paycheck or government benefits check to your Netspend Card Account.  You can ask your employer to automatically deposit your paycheck into the Card Account and use it where they are accepted.

The good thing about direct deposits is you only have to set it up once, and it's easy to do so.  All you need is your Account number and the Routing number, which you can give to your employer or the government department that handles your benefits.

And the best thing of all is that your money will be available in your Card Account up to 2 days faster[4] with direct deposit than it will if you deposit a paper check.  And when you sign up for Anytime AlertsTM,[5] you can even get notified when the funds clear in your Card Account.  Learn more about direct deposits with Netspend.

Netspend Reload Network[3]

Add money to your Netspend account by finding one of 130,000 conveniently located Netspend reload locations in the U.S.

To find your nearest reload location, take a look at our locator tool to find the lowest cost locations nearby. At a reload center, you can add cash or load money to your Card Account.

Bank transfers[1]

Another way to add money to your Netspend Card Account is through an online bank transfer. You can add money from any eligible U.S.-issued bank account.

If you have another checking or savings account and use online banking, this may be the best option to add money to your Netspend Card Account.  Simply set up your Netspend Card Account as a payment recipient on your eligible checking account and follow the instructions at your bank to send money.

PayPal

For PayPal users, you can also transfer[6] funds from your PayPal account to your Netspend Card Account. This is ideal if you use PayPal a lot and don't want to have to transfer it out into another checking account.

Log in to your Paypal account and go to "Send and Request" in the top navigation bar and then "Send to Bank Account". Enter the amount that you will be sending and then select "Debit Card Deposit". Enter the verification details that PayPal requests (Name, Address, Date of Birth) and select from where you would like to transfer funds onto your Netspend Card (i.e., from a credit card, debit card, or your bank account).

Please note that fees do apply and vary, depending on which options you choose.

Transfer between other Netspend accounts[7]

If you have another Netspend account, it's easy enough to transfer money from one Card Account to another. Simply log in to your Online Account Center to start your transfer. Other Netspend cardholders can use FlashPay to put money into your account as well.

Tax refunds

Putting your tax refund onto your Netspend Card is yet another way to add money to your Card Account. If you are due any tax refunds, you can ask the IRS to electronically deposit[8] your refund into your Netspend Card Account instead of a regular checking account.. Either give your tax preparer your Account number and Routing number or enter this information as requested on your tax return form.

If you get a paper check back from the IRS, then no worries at all!  Paper checks can be loaded at any reload location[3] or via Mobile Check Load.[9]

Quick and easy transfers with Netspend

Transferring money to your Netspend Card Account can also be done. For fast options, you might want to consider bank transfers[1] or transfers between other Netspend accounts.[7]
