Frequently Asked Questions

What is a virtual account and how can I create one?

A virtual account is a temporary access device you can use to make purchases or payments by telephone or online, without needing to provide your physical card number. Virtual accounts are an easy way to add extra security to transactions where your card isn't present.

Once you have verified your identity and activated your personalized card, you can create a virtual account in your Online Account Center by navigating under “Account” and clicking "Card Settings" and following the instructions.

Each virtual account consists of a 16-digit account number, a 3-digit security code, and an expiration date. Once you're done using the virtual account, you can close it so that it can't be used again. You can create up to 6 virtual accounts at a time and close them at any time. Virtual accounts have a 1-year expiration date. Other fees, limits, and terms and conditions apply as they do for your Account. Log in to the Online Account Center or mobile app for more details.
