How does Refer-a-Friend work?
If Refer-a-Friend is available on your Card Account, you can earn rewards by referring friends for a Netspend Card. Simply follow these steps:
- Click on “Account” in your Online Account Center or mobile app. Under Account, click on the button "Invite friends and Get Paid".
- Invite your friend to get a Netspend Card by completing the form and clicking “Send Referral”. Please note: The referral can be sent via social media, e-mail, or even in the form of a link.
- Your friend can order a new Card using your referral information.
- They activate their new Card and verify their identity once the Card arrives in the mail.
- Your friend loads the required amount to their Netspend Card through either a cash reload or direct deposit.
- You and your friend both get rewarded the amount specified on the “Refer a Friend” page after 2 business days.
No rewards will be credited to either party if the referred individual had a Netspend Card that was used for a value load, purchase, cash withdrawal, or incurred a balance inquiry fee at any time during the 180 calendar days before the day the required load requirement is fully met.
If a Cardholder accrues $600 or more in Refer-a-Friend rewards in a calendar year, Netspend will mail Cardholder an IRS Form 1099-MISC reflecting the total Refer-a-Friend rewards for such calendar year.
