The beauty of having a Prepaid Card account is that you can only spend what you put on the card, but it helps to know exactly what your balance is before you make a purchase.

In this article, we're covering how to check your Netspend balance as well as some other related frequently asked questions.

How do I check my Netspend balance?

There are four ways to check your balance on your Netspend Prepaid Card.

1. Log in to your Online Account Center

To check your Netspend balance, all you need to do is log in to your Online Account Center

Once you're logged in, you'll be able to see your balance, your deposits, and your transaction history at a glance.

2. Sign up for Anytime Alerts TM[1]

If you want to check your balance on a Netspend card wherever you are, you can also sign up for Anytime Alerts. With Anytime Alerts, you can receive a text message showing your Netspend balance after each transaction you make.[1]

How do I sign up for Anytime Alerts?

To sign up for Anytime Alerts, you need to activate them in your online account. Once you have signed up, you can text the letters "BAL" to 22622 any time of day, and your account balance will be texted right back to you. [1] This saves you from having to log in, which can be handy if you don't have internet access.

3. Call Netspend

Another way to check your balance is to call Netspend's toll-free number at 1-866-387-7363. Note: This service incurs a $0.50 service fee. For more information, see your Cardholder Agreement.

4. Check at a participating ATM

You can also check your Netspend card balance at any participating ATM located in the U.S. All you need is your card and to follow the instructions on the ATM screen to request your balance. ATM owner fees may apply.

What's the maximum I can spend each day?

As with many prepaid, debit, or credit cards, there are limits on how much you can spend in a 24-hour period.

For Netspend cards, you can spend up to $4,999.99 on purchase transactions or over-the-counter cash withdrawals in a 24-hour period.

For ATM cash withdrawals, this is limited to $325 per withdrawal and up to $940 per 24 hours. Fees may apply, see your Cardholder Agreement for more information.

How do I reload my Netspend card?

If you realize your balance is a bit lower than you thought, you can reload your card in a few different ways.

1. Direct deposits

With a direct deposit, you can electronically add your paychecks, tax refunds, Social Security benefits, pensions, and more to your account. Find out more on how to do it here.

2. Bank transfer[2]

One of the simplest ways to move money to your Netspend account is to do a bank transfer from a qualifying U.S. bank account.[2] Just use your checking or savings account or debit card to add money by following the instructions in your Online Account Center.

3. Visit a Netspend Reload[3] Center

You can add money to your Netspend account by visiting one of 130,000 locations around the U.S.[3] To find your nearest center, use our Reload Center Locator and find the lowest cost location in your area.

4. Use PayPal

You can also add money to your Netspend card by transferring it from your PayPal balance.[4] This works in a similar way as a bank transfer, but it will require logging into your PayPal account as well.

5. Transfer between Netspend Card Accounts

Another way to add funds to your Card Account is to transfer money from another Netspend account which includes ACE Elite, Control, or Purpose accounts.[5]

To access these options, you need to log into your account and follow the instructions and menu options.

When will my direct deposit be available?

If you have opted to have your paychecks or government benefits direct deposited to your Netspend account, you can get paid up to 2 days faster[6] than you’d usually receive it.

However, to use direct deposits, your Card Account must be active. This means it must have been used for a purchase, load, or cash withdrawal in the past 90 days.
